First Responders Recognition Programme

FIRST RESPONDERS RECOGNITION PROGRAMME

January 20, 2019

Our first responders, police, paramedics and fire services are a very important and an indispensable part of our community and indeed should be recognized for their great contribution.

The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst in partnership with the Bracebridge OPP, District of Muskoka Paramedics and Gravenhurst Fire Department are working together to enhance a long-existing Rotary community recognition programme.

Rotary has had this programme for years and would now like to acknowledge those exceptional efforts of the three services in their response to emergencies. Our plan is to hold the initial presentation of the First Responders Recognition in February 2019.

Significant efforts of each service’s support staff will also be included. We are all aware that the first few minutes of receiving an emergency call are critical to a successful outcome and certainly deserve acknowledgment.

A new component of Rotary’s First Responders Recognition Programme will recognize the value of any pro-active effort, initiative or programme that has proven to successfully contribute to community safety and security.

Although the club’s interests focus in the town of Gravenhurst, exceptional performance by first responders are found throughout the District and warrant recognition.

Comments from the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst, District of Muskoka Paramedics, Gravenhurst Fire Department and Ontario Provincial Police.

Gord McNeice, President of the Gravenhurst Rotary Club:
“The Club is proud to introduce this exciting initiative with our new partners. It is important not only to recognize exceptional individual and group efforts, but also publicize to the community the high quality of service our first responders provide on a daily basis”.

Chief Jeff McWilliam, District of Muskoka Paramedics:
“Muskoka Paramedics are committed to excellence in their patient care, community and professionalism that makes a positive impact on someone’s life every day. Accolades are not often received so being recognized by the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst’s First Responder Recognition Programme is an honour and very much appreciated.”

Chief Larry Brassard, Gravenhurst Fire Department:
“The Rotary has been an integral part of the community for many years, and we’re appreciative of their efforts throughout our community. This initiative to recognize all first responders is much appreciated and while no firefighter does what he or she does for recognition, its nice to know that their efforts on behalf of the public do not go unrecognized by Rotarians”.

Inspector Michael Burton, Ontario Provincial Police, Bracebridge Detachment:
“The Rotary Club continues to play an important role in our communities and the members of the Bracebridge OPP detachment are honoured that Rotary has taken the time to enhance this programme to recognize the proactive and innovative efforts of first responder. We look forwarding to continuing our work with Rotary in various capacities while maintaining safety and security in our communities”.
